Bible League in Russia and CIS
make 2004 the "Year of the Bible"

Inspired by Germany's "Year of the Bible 2003" Bible League have planned a series of events to promote God's Word in Russia and ten states of CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) during 2004.

The aim is to raise interest in studying the Bible and considering its relevance in today's society. At least five denominations will be combining to increase evangelism and discipleship through Project Philip.

Through the year, Bible League expects to introduce God's Word to 2.5 million people in southern Russia alone-many for the first time. This is an ambitious goal in a country where more than 90 percent of people have no meaningful church connections.

The aim is also "to get Christians to blow the dust off their Bibles and read them daily," says Bible League's Russian Regional Director.

"Year of the Bible 2004" will have a major impact on Russia and CIS. Multitudes of people will be reached with the Gospel and respond to its invitation. An extra 20,000 Bibles, in addition to the amount allocated for Russia and CIS is needed for 2004.
